Each year, on the 3rd Friday in May, people from across the Baltimore region celebrate Bike to Work Day. This year, May 20th marked the day in which thousands of cyclists recognize bicycling as an option in commuting to work.
To help promote healthy lifestyles in the working environment, Blue Dot Services encouraged employees to join in the ride. Five team members took part, including Jeff Stagnoli, Lou Kopp, Jetti Kreiner, Mike Dodson and Michelle Jakubiak. These five met at the Harford County Government’s Administration Building in downtown Bel Air at 7:15am to take part in the Harford County Bike to Work Day events. Events included a Bicycle Parade through downtown Bel Air that included over 150 Harford County participants, refreshments, massages, and door prize drawings.
In addition, winners of the Cycle Smackdown were announced. Cycle Smackdown is a competition between Harford County businesses and agencies where businesses try to get the most number of registrants from their company to join the rally. Blue Dot was honored to receive an Honorable Mention award in the large company category after registering 5 employees. Upper Chesapeake and SAIC tied for a first place finish after 11 employees each signed up for the ride.
"All of us had a great time biking to work. It was a nice ride, and Harford County did an outstanding job organizing and creating such enthusiasm for the event. I have no doubts their participant level will double next year, and Blue Dot will be sure to be a part of it," said Jeff Stagnoli, President of Blue Dot Services.
